Our intensive 5-day Placement Preparation and Employability Skills Development Program was delivered to final-year undergraduate students of the Department of Physics, Madras Christian College, Chennai, to equip them with the essential skills and confidence required to excel in campus placements and professional interviews. Each day focused on key industry-oriented training components, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience.
Day 1 – Mock Interview Session
The program commenced with a full-scale Mock Interview conducted for all participating students, simulating real corporate interview environments. The aim was to assess students’ readiness, identify strengths, and highlight areas of improvement in technical knowledge, communication skills, and confidence.
Day 2 – Individual Feedback & Interview Preparation Techniques
The day commenced with personalised feedback on the interview conducted with each participant. This was followed by an insightful session on effective interview preparation strategies, including how to structure answers, what preparations need to be done prior to an interview, how to handle HR and technical questions, and present oneself professionally during interviews.
Day 3 – Group Discussion (GD) Training
The day focused on Group Discussion skills, a crucial shortlisting step in many placement processes. Live GD practice was conducted to enhance public speaking and decision-making abilities. Feedback on their performance was shared after the session.
Day 4 – Resume Writing Workshop
The fourth day featured a hands-on Resume Writing workshop, guiding students to create professional resumes. They were taught formatting guidelines, content structuring, and the importance of highlighting skills, achievements, and internships to make a strong impression on recruiters.
Day 5 – Job Selection Criteria, Grooming Etiquette & Body Language
The final day included an in-depth session on Job Selection Criteria, helping students understand the ways on how to choose suitable roles based on skills, interests, and market trends. This was followed by training on professional grooming, corporate etiquette, and body language, essential elements for projecting confidence and professionalism in interviews. The program concluded with feedback sharing and open discussion to address student queries.
